ETB or booster bundle: which fits your collection?
An Elite Trainer Box and a booster bundle can both contain packs, but they are different products.
Choose what you want
An Elite Trainer Box and a booster bundle can both contain packs, but they are different products. Start by deciding whether you want packs to open, accessories to use, or a particular sealed box to collect.
A booster bundle is generally the more focused pack purchase. For example, the official Journey Together booster bundle contains six packs. An ETB can include packs plus sleeves, accessories, a storage box, and a promo card. The regular Scarlet & Violet—151 ETB includes nine packs and a Snorlax promo. Check the specific product listing rather than applying those counts to every set or edition. Journey Together bundle, 151 ETB
Compare the whole purchase
If you mainly want packs, divide the complete purchase cost by the number of packs. In a hypothetical comparison, a six-pack bundle costing $36 works out to $6 per pack, while a nine-pack ETB costing $63 works out to $7 per pack. The ETB costs an additional $1 per pack in that example, with its other contents included in the purchase.
That comparison does not put a resale value on sleeves or a promo. If you want the accessories, compare what the whole purchase is worth to you. If you plan to keep the product sealed, the packaging and edition may matter more than the pack calculation.
Before you buy
Before choosing, check the set, language, edition, pack count, shipping charge, and whether the listing is factory sealed. Compare the exact versions in the catalog, then use the price-per-pack tool if opening packs is your main goal.
A practical break-even test
Set an accessory budget before comparing totals. If you would pay at most $8 for an ETB’s storage and promo together, a hypothetical $63 ETB with nine packs leaves $55, or $6.11 per pack, against that personal budget. It still does not beat a $36 six-pack purchase on pack cost. If you assign no value to the extras, use the unadjusted $7 figure instead.
This is a willingness-to-pay exercise, not resale accounting. Never subtract the same accessory allowance from your collection cost or profit calculation unless an actual sale has occurred. The site’s per-pack figures intentionally allocate the full box price to packs so that the comparison remains reproducible.
- Opening: compare exact pack contents and checkout totals.
- Keeping sealed: compare edition and packaging condition, not just packs.
- Buying as a gift: decide whether storage and accessories are useful before choosing the cheapest average.
